The past year has been quite riveting for film, not to mention tumultuous, as the industry was put on pause due to the five-month WGA (writers) strike and overlapping five-month SAG-AFTRA (actors and artists) strike. From Christopher Nolan’s epic bigraphical thriller Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s existential feminist fantasy Barbie, to Martin Scorsese’s haunting western Killers of the Flower Moon and Justine Triet’s family legal drama Anatomy of a Fall, there are a lot of top contenders for the top prizes. The BAFTA film awards 2024 could be a tough call, but if the Golden Globes were anything to go by, the winners could be staring us right in the face.

The following is a run-down of this year’s film nominations for the British Academy of Film and Television Awards. The ceremony will take place on Sunday 18th February (time TBA).
